I just wanted to reach out to you friendly helpful folk on here with a thought that's been nagging me, I've recently been told that I have grade1/2 fibrosis, my consultant is firm that I still have pv and to be monitor my bloods every 3 months, I have for the last 6 months been doing local park run, I'm slow but get round OK and enjoy the experience but does anyone know if this might reverse my bone marrow fibrosis, thanks and merry Christmas too.

Excersise and fibrosis
Good question about the impact of exercise! I haven't seen any research on how different amounts of exercise can impact the different MPNs (or grade of fibrosis) and can't imagine how a researcher could test for that given all the other variables and possible interactions. It makes intuitive sense that exercise is good for you and the rest of us as it should help reduce the oxidative stress (linked to our proliferative bone marrow). I find the more exercise I do, the better I feel - even if it's only psychosomatic because I think I'm doing something positive for myself. If you enjoy the park run, I reckon keep doing it and take the positive psychological effect as a win.
Merry Christmas 🎄
I think it's great that you're enjoying running in the park! I don't know if it will reverse the fibrosis but the other benefits like being out in nature, doing something you enjoy and moving your body have to be good for you. Embrace each day and live in the moment! I know I feel much better after a workout and it adds to my quality of life.
While exercise will not reduce fibrosis, it is good for your health and mental well-being. It is one of the best thigs we can do for ourselves when we have a MPN.
Really big thanks to your replies, I found them really helpful.
I was diagnosed with PV in 2017. My first bone marrow biopsy report in 2019 said grade 1 to 2 fibrosis. I too was told at the time I had not progressed to MF. However my second bmb a few weeks ago has shown I now have progressed to MF with grade 2 fibrosis.
Hi, mcw22, I sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis, It not something one would ever expect to get, I just hope there's drugs that can slow the disease any further all the best and thanks for posting.
