Bone Marrow Biopsy States grade 1 fibrosis. Is this normal for ET?

Hi All,

I had the results of my bone marrow biopsy and on the letter it states grade 1 fibrosis. I am a little concerned with the word “fibrosis”. I have spoken to guys hospital and they have only said that this is in keeping with ET. Does “fibrosis grade 1” mean MF progression?

I think this is the highest acceptable grade for true ET. Is the fibrosis scale up to grade 4, or 3?

Looks like it goes up to 3 I think.

Ok. I believe there is no need to worry. It is an acceptable grade for ET.

Yes I am grade one and have ET. Told it was normal in ET.

Isn't it this grade MF1 considered "rare" for ET according to WHO2016??

That's what Who states but it seems that it is more common than rare in ET.

I don't get it ... If this is the case, then the new WHO 2016 critiria could not be accurate.. so this could also mean that we do not have ET but pre-PMF (with all the concequensies). Had does your doctor says about it?
