Hey all hope you all are doing good.Recently I've had elevated AST ALT and pain right side of abdomen in liver region.

Did any of you with pv go through similar problems?

I have had elevated AST/ALT as an interferon side effect. No pain though. pain is a warning that something is wrong. Suggest you follow up with your care team promptly.

I am following up. Got an ultrasound scan ten days back and came out as normal. I don't know what else to do. Getting some viral markers tests and consulting gastroenterologist.Liver ast at 211 and alt at 90.

Glad to hear you are already following up. Getting checked for viral and bacterial markers would be a logical thing to do. I am assuming that the ultrasound checked for gallstones already. I am wondering if the ultrasound would be sensitive enough to detect small clots in the liver. It would be worth asking.

There are a number of liver issues that can cause what you describe. webmd.com/digestive-disorde... v Some on the forum have experienced Portal Vein Thrombosis and Budd-Chiarri Syndrome. That is not to say it is what is going on in your case, just on the list to check off.

I do not recall what, if any, medication you are taking. medication adverse effects would also need to be considered. In addition, looking at other organs may be needed if all liver-related issues are ruled out.

Hope that you figure this out soon.

Thank you for the info

I have asked for the possibility of clots or budd chiari and more than plain ultrasound Doppler seems to be the choice of investigation. I will ask again after these reports come clear. If i need one more scan just in case. It's mysterious i would get one because i have been investigated for myeloproliferative neoplasms. But I'll try pushing for one scan. I'm not taking any medications.
