Have any of you good people been on Lisinopril for several years? If so, have you suffered any side effects?
I've been taking them for 4 years (protection from Clopidogrel), but apparently GPs should review it after 12 months to check for unwanted effects. Needless to say, mine hasn't
Take care

I was not able to tolerate lisinopril due to ACE inhibitor cough. I have done much better on losartan (an ARB). Sorry to hear the doc did not check. Sometime it is up to us ro advocate for ourselves.
Thanks Hunter,I fully agree with self advocacy, and now that I am aware of the risk factors, that's exactly what I will do. But I'm also interested in whether fellow MPNers has encountered MPN related issues with Lisinopril.
I had been on Lisinopril for a few years before my PV diagnosis and continued for 3 years afterwards. I didn't feel any side effects, but my Potassium levels were consistently high and although they were concerned, my hemotologists could not figure out why. My endocrinologist suggested switching to another blood pressure medication and it turned out the Lisinopril was causing the high potassium (which does show up in the fine print as a possibility).
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with having an MPN, but that's my experience.
I also had my potassium levels increased on Lisinopril. Had to switch BP meds to metoprolol succinate. Have to watch my potassium levels. My nephrologist thinks it is from PV that increase my potassium levels.
I have been taking Lisinopril for at least 10 years with no problems. I asked my GP to switch me to losartan last year after my sister had a case of severe tongue swelling cause by the ace inhibitor and ended up in ICU intubated for 24 hours. Apparently it can happen to anyone at any time even after years. Unfortunately after 2 weeks on losartan my EGFR dropped all the way down to 43, after ruling out any other causes I stopped the losartan and went back to Lisinopril and my EGFR was back up over 80 in 2 weeks, apparently losartan can cause kidney disease per GP. Go figure, we are truly all different in how we respond to drugs. Best to you going forward.
Yes I have been on it for many, many years with no problems, other than the usual cough. My doc does a blood test once a year to see if everything is OK which it is. Had a few problems of late trying to get as the 5mg is in short supply, so had to cut 10 mg in half, until chemists could get 5 again.
