Hi everyone, ET and JAK2 positive, having a Bone Marrow Biopsy on the 24/10 and yesterday received an appointment letter for abdo/pelvis CT on 16/10. I’ve had all the necessary investigations prior to my first appointment in September. I wasn’t even informed about this scan and with two days notice (it was referred to radiology on 29/09), but guess it’s due to good old Royal Mail. Has anyone else had a CT scan? It’s good that I’m having these investigations though 😊

Investigations
Yes I had both so don’t fret good luck
For the CT scan, they may put a contrast fluid through your veins. At a particular point it can make you feel as if you have wet yourself! Not painful but weird. The BMB can be painful - I always ask for gas and air which helps a lot. Good luck.
Yes it does I had one a few years ago. I also have to drink something (can’t remember the name) too 30 mins before starting.
Hi Lavazza, I’m interested to know what is been checked out with the Abdo/pelvis scan? Thanks Jo
Have had many as had bowel cancer 8 yrs ago. It's quite quick procedure. Don't worry you will be fine.
The scan could be to check your spleen size if that’s not already been done, though mine have been ultrasound not CT.
My spleen is fine but they keep finding other things on the scans!
I had an ultrasound to check abdo and was told all ok. Spleen had no abnormalities. TBH I often wonder how precise US are. I’ve had many to monitor fibroids and each one was different as in the numbers and positions. I don’t have a problem with the CT, it’s the lack of communication and explanations of why it’s being done.
I've had two BMBs, with local jabs, uncomfortable but not painful. Had a C T scan with infusion which caused me to have a fit which was abit scary.
Sorry to hear that. I had one in 2019 with no issues, so hopefully this one will match that one too.
Yes I they did scans & many imaging X-rays on my diagnosis. All came back ok so it’s routine to be thorough 👍
Before diagnosis - I had US which identified enlarged spleen. Haematologist wanted CT scan as it was more accurate to check it was actually enlarged . It also picked up some changes in my bone density consistent with fibrosis.
is this to confirm diagnosis? No Ct scan but endoscopy colonoscopy and spleen and ultrasound on abdomen.
