Symptoms of ET

I just returned from a lovely vacation in Puerto Rico. Just before boarding the plane I noticed my ankles were red and swollen and my legs were red as well. I desperately wanted to get home and I did. I called my doctor. I went to the ER. I have a blot vlot in my right leg so I am in the hospital. At least I am in my hospital. Hematology is involved and they think the clot and redness is related to my ET. Anyone else have similar symptoms? I am feeling overwhelmed.

Sorry to hear about the difficulty. Unfortunately, this kind of thrombosis is one of the primary risks of ET.

I hope you will be fine. My situation is improving. One leg is is back to normal. The other is much better. All doctors involved believe this is attributable to the ET.

Thank you. I just learned I will go home today. The family medicine docs and the hematology docs just need to agree on which blood thinner to use going forward. Good news.

sorry to hear you are feeling overwhelmed and have had a horrible time. I have no experience of this but wanted to send good wishes and hope you’re safely home soon x

I am so sorry your vacation ended this way.

When I was planning on a long plane ride I had asked my doctor about anything I could do to prevent issues and he said where compression stockings and also get up and walk every hour to minimize the risk. Not sure that is a good idea if the blood clot has already formed though.
