I’ve got this awful flu that’s going about at the moment, had it about a week, previous to that I’d had a slight cough and runny nose, that was starting to clear when my husband started with bad flu (even worse than man flu!) I followed two days later. Neither of us has ever been as bad as this before.
The constant coughing is very wearing and very painful on the abdomen, particularly spleen area. I can’t sleep laid down so have been propped up on pillows at night. I managed to see the practice nurse at the gp’s and she said that my airways were clear and oxygen flow ok and that it was viral and would clear eventually. I have been coughing phlegm up but it’s clear. I’ve tried various cough and cold remedies and nothing has helped.
Covid tests negative.
Anyway I have a bmb booked for Wednesday next week, not sure if I should rearrange this even though I could feel better by then, I am desperate to get the bmb results to see if I’m transforming from ET to something else.
Any advice appreciated.

hi lizziep, so sorry that you and your husband are so unwell with this awful flu virus, I hope you both get better soon. With regards to the BMB, perhaps give your haematology department a call and ask them what you should do about either going for the BMB or re-scheduling. Best wishes, Maz
I would allow my body to fully recover before getting the BMB. Even though we “feel” better, the body takes a while to truly bounce back after all you’re going through. If there is no rush for the BMB, I’d postpone.
Give yourselves time to heal. It seems you are now on the mend and the worst is over! 🙂. Take care and have a really good year!
