Anybody out there have both of these rare diseases together like I have. Diagnosed with UC in 1993 and ET in 2012. UC in remission almost all the time (on medication) and ET has no symptoms (on Hydroxyurea).

Ulcerative Colitis and ET, CALR+
Yes....I have had u.c. for years and now JAK2 positive, Polycythemia. On hydroxyurea now for a couple months and uc is better
I do not have UC along with the PV but do have GERD. The two conditions can affect each other. The increased production of cytokines caused by the CALR mutation can exacerbate other conditions by creating a pro-inflammatory environment. Any form of GI irritation can cause reactive thrombocytosis. When I had a particularly bad flare of gastritis, my platelets jumped by about 300K.
It is very important to treat these conditions holistically as while they may have different causes, they can impact each other. Getting your specialists to work together can be a challenge but putting effort into the collaboration is well worth it. This is particularly important as hydroxyurea can have GI adverse effects.
It sounds like your current care plan is working for you. All the best moving forward.
No such thing as CALR+, it's either CALR1 or CALR2. I'll ask when I see the hematologist at the end of January.
