High platelets from ET and increased Histamine levels
I have ET and also have idiopathic chronic uticaria, in other words I break out in hives for no reason, it was originally suspected to be a food allergy and I suffered through elimination diet with no respite. So they settled on an idiopathic diagnosis, which is Dr speak for we don't know .
I have had two bouts of this, once just a year before ET diagnosis, when platelets were probably high and again some 20 years later, I currently take strong antihistamines daily and have no symptoms. No Dr has ever connected the two conditions, but I do wonder I have suffered several other odd things where my immune system has gone wonky.
I am ET Jak 2 + and I have high histamine levels. I’m not sure if they affect my food and digestion but it makes me very reactive with runny noses and stuffiness. Since I also have trouble sleeping I take one Benadryl every evening to help my histamine levels, and to relax my body for better sleep. I should probably take something like Claritin during the day but I hate to take so many medications so I just rely on the evening antihistimine.
I hope that you are able to solve this!
Thank you so much for responding...will check out Benadryl...my problems seem to be eczema on face and painful swollen fingers and toes - but was told could be related to high levels of histamine from high platelets, hence my posting that message. Really grateful for replies...many thanks. Tinkerbell
