Been on Ramipril for 3 weeks. Got diarrhoea and cold extremities which I've never had . Tempted to stop and see if symptoms stop. Advice and experiences welcome. Is this unusual?? Will I be compromised if a stop for a few days???

I think the clinician/clinic who prescribed the Ramipril are the best people to advise you on this. Have a look at the leaflet that came with the Ramipril or (if in Uk) the NHS website for Ramipril side effects and what you describe may be common side effects. Also check if there’s a cautionary note about suddenly stopping without advice from the prescribing clinician.
Often side effects can lessen with time and I’ve been told in the past to allow a couple of months to see how any side effects settle. However over the past couple of years I’ve had my similar non MPN meds changed due to various ongoing side effects so I can relate to your dilemma.
I was originally put on Ramipril (an ACE inhibitor), but found I couldn’t tolerate it. Constantly feeling sea-sick, dizzy, and cough. I was changed to Losartan a different type of blood pressure med ( an ARB ) been on this for nearly a year now and seem fine. It’s worth discussing your options.
I've been on Ramipril for about 3.5 years. Since my SCT in 2019 I've noticed some changes in my bowel habits but I've no reason to believe it is the Ramipril, but then again it might be. Otherwise I've not noticed any obvious side effects although I started taking it when I was quite poorly with heart failure and GVHD amongst other post SCT health consequences so it's a bit hard for me to compare before and after. Two weeks after starting Ramipril (5mg/day) I was asked to have a blood test to monitor my kidney function and I believe this should be done then and again if you subsequently up to 10mg/day which I think is the standard dose. Otherwise I am told it is a relatively 'clean' pharmaceutical. All best. T
Just a thought - what time of day do you take it ? When prescribed mine some years ago now, I was 'told' to take it in the morning. However, after experiencing some side-effects during the day - nausea etc. - my GP suggested taking at night and hey presto ! no more side-effects. Might be worth a shot ? Hope you get it sorted anyway
I have both and am on ramipril. The diarrhoea was preceding ramipril and unrelated but the cold feet and hands may be. I have to wear sock in bed even in summer. Sometimes things settle down when the body gets used to a new med. good luck.
