Has anyone taking Hydroxyurea for ET felt better (less fatigue)in as little as 2days? Seems as if it worked for me that way, or else psychosomatic response.

Thanks

Just enjoy having more energy . !

Maybe because you are taking something you relaxed more .? Therefore less wasted energy ..

So wether its placebo effect or meds . Doesnt matter.

Hope it lasts ..

Appreciate your response Mostew. I’ve been dealing with fatigue for so long that maybe I’m reading to much into these first few days of meds. I am hopeful that my platelets are going down early with the Droxia and that’s part of what’s going on right now.

Thanks again

understand now why you asked if it might be meds helping.

I would assume it is as some symptoms to do lesson when platelets go down, usually

When’s your next blood test . ?

Im my experience it didnt help with fatigue but helped with other things. My spleen came down in size. My visual disturbances stopped. But for a few months i felt a little nauseous after taking them.

For me, the biggest help to my fatigue has been eating well. Plenty of fruit and veg. Resting, but not to much. And exercise to keep heart strong.

thanks for responding. Great news on the spleen and vision! And your thoughts on eating and exercise are right in line with mine. It’s encouraging to me to hear about positive outcomes from others.

Thanks so much

we’ll, after 8days on HU my platelets went up from 585 to 645. Either the analysis was bogus, I need higher dose, or it doesn’t work that fast, or all three.

Maybe HU isn’t for me.

74, very good health, take no meds. So, back to the sawbones in a few days.

Thanks everyone

Hi Jazzman. I’m 60 years old now and have been on hydroxyurea for 8 years. And up to now it helped me feel more normal than without it. Just in the last two months my red blood count and my hemoglobin is gotten very low and had to stop taking it until my numbers got higher. But I’m feeling weaker without it. Hope that helps you.

Thanks so much for your post. It was helpful to me because I have felt better these past couple of weeks, even though my platelets are still in the middle 600s. And like you, my RBCs and Hemoglobin is lower. Can I ask your platelets number?

Appreciate it!
