PV Itching on Holiday

Hi just an observation regards itching. I have just recently had a DX of PV.

For years I have had itching/aquagenic pruritus, both hot and cold temps and sometimes not even water induced just a temp change.

Here is the thing I had noticed on several occasions in past years that when I went on holiday the itching went after a couple of days and continued for a few weeks after returning home.

I suppose on holiday you are hydrating/drinking more water than normal, using sun cream multiple times a day (therefore moisturising), having 2/3 showers a day (must admit to steeling myself to get in there) and using lashings of hydrating cream whether it be after sun or body balm after showering. I don’t use any special hydrating cream.

Just wondered if anyone else found this 🤔

UV from the sun reduces PV itch, UVB phototherapy is a recognised treatment for itch. UVB therapy is narrowband UVB only which is safer whereas the sun is full spectrum UVB and UVA , hence more skin cancer risk but it does work for itch.

Hi, I have found on holiday I dont itch too, I am newly diagnosed with PV but have had the itching for years prior to Dx without knowing it was related and always find no itching whilst abroad before I was diagnosed wondered it if was the different water, have been abroad twice this year since dx and no itching
