In this post the cost is quite extreme, more than triple what I expected. Likely there are discounts that Insurance Cos get, otherwise there may be pressure to stay on PEG for some.
<<We see a positive outlook for Besremi sales in the US going forward, despite that the new drug’s pricing of US$180,000 per person per year is higher than previously expected.>>
That is WAY more expensive than expected. I hope the negotiated prices will actually be lower. My rates are capped at $100/month with a $2,000 annual cap. Many people will be forced to ay a flat percentage with no annual cap. If this price holds true, then many people will not be able to afford Besremi.
My ins co said 270/month for Besremi, and going down from that. And 7500/year max. We've seen the crazy retail prices vs actual for many US medical things. I know the retail in Germany at one time was far less.
But if this hits real patients PEG may well stay in the game.
For comparison, I checked the cost of Besremi in German pharmacies. €1685.- per 250ug pen. Assuming 24 injections per year brings the annual cost to about €40000.-, which is less than US $50,000.- What a difference.
That's consistent with what I saw earlier this year. Clearly the Company is playing the US system. Unlikely we could get it insurance covered from Germany since the FDA approved both the maker of the juice in Taiwan and the US facility that compounds it. Let's hope what I heard from my ins co is accurate.
At least it should reduce by half after the 1st year at 1 dose/month.
I also just replied to an old post of yours that mentioned NAC.
