The single dose was even less effective in blood and bone marrow cancer patients, just 13 per cent developing the virus-fighting protein

I had Pfizer and it is now 7 weeks ago. Yes, I would like the second dose but I am not sure the doctors will pay any attention to that wish. But I am willing to ask. Will see my haemo. on Wednesday.

I read the news report too (and after I'd stopped hyperventilating!😃) I forwarded the link to my GP surgery, with a request to be considered for an earlier second jab. They responded with - "At the moment we are following current NHS Guidelines which advise that the second dose should be given at 10-12 weeks and therefore cannot give a second dose before this time period." Oh well, at least I tried. I guess we need to wait and hope that the 12 week strategy changes if and when more evidence emerges.

Definitely worth trying. I think I will ask at my medical centre, but I won't raise my hopes!

Hi Yes I have emailed my drs surgery and expressed my concerns too so will see what they come back with but I don’t expect miracles! I am on week 6 today after having Pfizer. I did feel like I had flu on and off for about 5-6 days though and been told if you feel a bit poorly it means your body definitely firing up antibodies fingers crossed! At least I am now getting lateral flow tests now as my kids are at primary school and means when it comes to meeting up with people again (I am being very optimistic this will be in April) we can all do one of these so have extra reassurance. I don’t know about everyone else on the group but feel like taking one step forward and two steps back! My husband also had his vaccine last week as was coded for both asthma and my carer due to shielding. Fit anyone interested he had a phone appointment with the Carers nurse to go through my condition and what he does for me which is basically shopping and school runs which started this week again and they said he definitely qualified so if anyone else in a similar situation it’s worth pushing.

Hope everyone ok out there! X

Morning.

Is this study for the Pfizer vaccine only?

If so is there any data on the effectiveness of the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine ?

I had my first dose of that three weeks ago - no side effects at all.

I am jak2 + with ET , on hydroxy and aspirin.

Well I’m still not classed as extremely vulnerable even after forwarding the advice stated on the MPN newsletter. I’ve just received a shielding letter from my heamo so I’ll be copying it and sending that on now. I’m a bit nervous as my son has just started back to work in a hotel that will be housing isolating Covid lorry drivers.

I read an article on this yesterday from MPN Voice stating that noone with an MPN took part in this trial. You can see the article there so that makes things slightly better and we were all being careful anyway. X

That is reassuring as was a shock headline to read and I even had my mother on the phone saying how concerned she was for me. The Gp have responded saying a nurse will get in touch with me so will share if anything different said. Take care

Should be pushing for an antibody test some weeks after having the vaccine! My wife I am sure had the virus, caught while in hospital last August, in December I paid for an antibody test which came back negative at 0.08. She has had her 1st vaccine and still waiting for her second. Eventually I will ask her consultant for an antibody test, but expecting a firm no.

Can someone post the link to the story?

I had my first jab on 30th December and my appointment for 2nd on 20th January 3 weeks after was cancelled with Govmt. change to 12 weeks. I tried my utmost to get it sooner, contacting GP, local MP and even wrote to Boris, but no help. GP’s hands were tied by Government ruling. I’ve finally got my appointment on Thursday 18th March, 6 days short of 12 weeks. They’re a bit late coming up with this advice to have ours done sooner when most of us will be at least into six weeks by now. I have ET on Hydroxy and Clopidogrel and also low dose steroids for another complaint. Don’t think my immune system will be in good shape! Regards to all . Fran
