Hello doubled up on hdroxy new side effects.

Hi l have been on 1 tablet 500 milligrams since my diagnosis which has now been increased to 2 tablets 500 millegrams daily. Thing is now into my third week l have been experiencing very cold sensations usually after the second tab in the evening about (half hour after food) as well as very sharp pain in left breast. Any information or advice welcome.

What you are reporting is consistent with reports in the literature regarding adverse effects of hydroxyurea (chills and pain in chest). It is to be expected that adverse effects would increase as they are often dose-related.

It is very important to notify your provider of the side effects. it is also important to not allow yourself to be dismissed if you become more concerned about adverse effects. There are other options if you cannot tolerate HU or would simply prefer a medication with lower toxicity, It is up to you to make that decision.
