Double dose of hydroxy

Hi today to bring my platelets down my dose of hydroxy was increased from one daily to 2 every other day. Shortly after taking this new dose l had a strange sensation sort of tightening in my temple and jaw most unpleasant, although it lasted for a short period of time. Have others taking increased dose of hydroxy had similar experiences.

Hello Adiewon2..,I had to up my dose Hydroxycarbomide by 1 extra a week as my platelets had gone up ..I felt strange ,really quiet &... my head felt like it was in a vice ...so after 2 weeks I could not stand anymore and went back to my normal dose ...I was fortunate that although I felt rough the extra tablet did bring my platelets back to normal (ish ) My heamo was happy for me to get back to normal dose ..So Although it was only two weeks ... it was enough ...so my heart goes out to you ...hope this helps in some way ... hope your platelets come down soon ... Thank you Melanie lm monitoring it and hopefully my hematologist will be as helpful as yours,by the way today lm spacing them out between meals and loads of water.

Thanks for getting back to me laniewill be speaking to my hemo in a couple of weeks and will be having words,hardly sleept a wink last night insomnia getting worse another side effect maybe..

Hi, You must tell your heamo. Maybe for you the increase needs to be introduced more slowly. I’m on a higher dose than that. In fact when first diagnosed the first week I was on 1 a day and the 2nd week it went to two a day. I did not experience any of the side affects you are experiencing. Good luck please give an update.

Hi Wyebird lm thinking my anxieties got the better of me and any sudden change to meds is a challenge for me if l continue to experience anything debilitating for a longer period l will indeed let my hematologist know. Thank you for your response.
