Peg and skin rash?

Patients who take Peg - one of my injection sites has developed itchy pinhead blisters. I’ve applied topical antihistamine and eczema creams but they’re not shifting. All the injection sites are red but that fades after a few weeks; this is the only blistered one. Is this a common thing which subsides, or should I flag it up with a medic?

Hi Lucy, speak to your nurse specialist about this for their advice. Hope you get it sorted out, not nice for you. Best wishes, Maz

I do believe that skin reactions at the injection site are pretty common; however you should definitely let your care team know. You might ask if Eucrisa (Crisaborole) would be a more effective topical to deal with the skin reaction. I use it for eczema, but it works for other skin conditions too.

Hi Lucy this happens to me too occasionally, it’s common I think so don’t worry too much. Mine normally goes after about a week. Best wishes Claire x

Lucy, I had very itchy, red, sore skin, when I changed from Hydroxy to Peg, on both sides of my stomach where I was injecting. I've been moved back onto Hydroxy as my clincal team felt it was the better option given the reaction II had to the injecting. Can't say I'm unhappy about it!

Ah interesting, thank you for sharing that. My rash is better today and I’m otherwise very happy with Peg so I’ll stick with it 🤞🏽

I had this reaction only on my stomach. It went away after two weeks or so. No problems on thighs.

Thanks Alex, that’s good to hear. My rash is better today so I think it’s just a minor superficial issue.
