Anagrelide shortage

I live in Florida and can’t get Anagrelide at any of my stores. I tried ordering from Canada but no availability. Does anyone have a contact of a pharmacy that you know of that could possibly have any Anagrelide. Thank you

Many insurers have a mail pharmacy. Have you checked there?

Here is a link to the FDA website. Apparently this is a shortage at the manufacturer going back to October 2019. accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/...

Perhaps looking for the name brand Agrylin will yield some results. I ran into a similar problem when I needed Nystatin to treat hydroxyurea-induced Thrush. Everyone was out except for one pharmacy. My hematologist's office tracked down the only source in my area. Hopefully your doc's office can help. I expect you are not the only patient having this problem. Likewise with your pharmacist. If you go to one of the larger chain pharmacies, they can usually find something somewhere.

Hope you find the med soon.

Are you taking Anagrelide too?

Not currently on any meds. Following a phlebotomy-only protocol for PV with both erythrocytosis and thrombocytosis. I did not tolerate the hydroxyurea the last time I took it. Would likely opt for PEGylated Interferon or possible Ruxolitinib if I need cytoreduction again.

Glad to hear you were able to find the med you needed. The anagrelide shortage is nation-wide. Hopefully they will get it fixed shortly.

I live in So Florida and was recently able to find Anagrelide first at Totalcare Mart.com (Canadian Pharmacy) but it was expensive. Then I found it at Walgreens but at 1 mg so I was going to take 1 per day instead of two 0.5 MG per day. Unfortunately I could not tolerate it-it made me sick to my stomach every time I tried to take it.

Sorry to hear the 1 mg dose made you sick. Are you able to tolerate the 0.5 mg dose? (I managed to get my Anagrelide at a Publix in Clearwater) Since you can’t tolerate 1mg dose what are you doing? Are you going without anything?

Hi there, I never got to try the 1 MG because the .05 mg made me so sick. It was all a big expense for nothing. Right now I am only taking baby aspirin morning and night. I feel fine but at my last blood test my platelets were 950. I will be seeing my doctor in a few weeks and will get another blood test before I go. I do not know what I will do because I tried Hydroxyurea and that made me sick and then I took Jakafi and felt great. The only problem with that, other than it being expensive, is that my liver enzymes went up too high so they took me off that. I am not happy with any of this. Why are you trying to find Anagrelide, have you tried Hydroxyurea?

Not what you're looking for?
