Copy of my reply to Mary on another thread. I have PV and RA and take Hydroxy and Methoteexate...

I’ve just had a call from my haematologist for my normal consult. She advised I can go out to get food , medicines and exercise but not visit anyone. They are not sending Hydroxy prescriptions to my local pharmacy (guess they are over whelmed anyway) so I have to go to the hospital tomorrow to pick them up.

I asked if I would get one of the ‘at risk’ letters, she said no but to take every precaution I can.

I’m well confused !! I have JAK 2 positive , only taking aspirin, feel fine . I’m a Carer . Should I be working ? Is the reason some people shouldn’t work , lowered immunity from taking chemo meds ?

Hope you are all staying safe in such uncertain times x

So appreciating this site xx

I was just relating my personal experience. None of us on this site can advise you what to do. You really need to follow the guidelines issued by MPN Voice, or speak to your haematologist.

Best wishes

Thanks Judy . Just wondered what others are doing really . Xx

All people in NZ have to stay at home, apart of essential service like myself as a nurse, supermarkets chemists and petrol stations.

I feel that we should make a decision based on our own circumstances. The health service can only generalise, so I have made the decision to self-isolate in order to keep 100% safe. I consider it a small price to pay when the alternative could be devastating. My son and daughter are totally self-isolating too (not even going out to shop), so at Easter we should be clear to meet up together for the day 🤞
