Dizziness

I have been having dizzy spells for the past week that have gotten worse. I am thinking it is because I am overdue for my phlebotomy. Hoping not related to stroke. Am out of country until next week so don’t know what my numbers are. Anybody else have dizzy spells?

Yes: I’ve had dizzy spells, and also feeling as tho I might faint. More so before I started on ruxolitinib ( I have MF) , but I’ve had a few recently. My blood counts are usually more or less normal (with the help of EPO injections to stop the anaemia, and the occasional unit of blood) except for the LDH which is always too high. But that's very nonspecific . None of this correlates with when I feel dizzy and when I don’t. Sometimes its part of feeling very fatigued.

It does pass.

Would be very interested in what your blood counts turn out to be when you next have a venesection.

I often feel a bit light headed, as though I've got low blood sugar. My platelets are ok, at the moment, but I'm a bit anaemic, other counts fairly ok.

Thanks Lizzie. May be my iron levels also. I appreciate your comment.

The only time I have experienced light-headedness/dizziness it was related to blood pressure medicine. Never experienced this as a result of PV per se. Hypervelocity of the blood can cause vertigo. Not sure if that could be related to what you are experiencing. Hope you get it all sorted out soon.

Doing OK. Have an upcoming surgery to deal with a bone tumor on my mandible, but it appears that it will be relatively easy to have removed. Otherwise all is well and life is good.

Hi dladydi, yes I get dizzy spells, though thankfully not very often now, they definitely got better once I started Hydroxycarbamide, and in fact, they were one of the symptoms that I was experiencing that eventually led to lots of tests and then my diagnosis of ET. Best wishes, Maz
