Pregnant, 36 weeks, low platelets, on Peg.

Hello all! I've posted here a couple of times. I'm 41 now and have been taking Peg. 90mcg/every 3 weeks for about 3 years. It has controlled all my counts very well. I actually got pregnant this year (small miracle) and due to the increase in blood volume from pregnancy, my counts are naturally lovely and low and diluted.

But I'm still on Peg. My hem. had wanted my platelets at 400 before I deliver but they continue to steadily decline, even with decrease in dosage: I am now taking 20mcg every 3 weeks. My platelets are 202. Wanted to hear from anyone who has gone through labor with "low" Parker counts, and how it has gone for them. Spontaneous labor or cesarean, even.

Sorry I have no insight re pregnancy but why did your haem not want to take you off interferon? Seems odd.

Agreed. I've advocated for stopping but he just keeps decreasing dose.

Hi Sharon, I'm 38 wks pregnant on peg and my platelets are steadily about 195. My haematologist seems happy with this. Following the thread with interest!

That's great to hear that your hematologist is happy where you're at. Since mine wanted me at 400 I was getting nervous about bleeding (and clotting, because both can happen). I am still in the "normal" range according to the scale used by my hospital, so that's some relief.
