Hi everyone, I’ve had ET for two and a half years now I’m on hydroxy and aspirin but the past couple of days I’ve been feeling light headed for a couple of seconds on and off, I was wandering if it could be warning signs of a TIA , does anybody now what happens before or what to expect if you have one , I might be overreacting it might just be the heat as it is hot here in the uk ,

Take care everyone

Hydrea eventually lowered my hemoglobin and red blood cells to the point where I got sick. Suggest CBC?

Hi. Sorry this is happening & I’m afraid I can’t answer your question about TIA’S. But can you stay in cool air for a few days, avoid caffeine & alcohol & drink 2-3 liters of fluid? That might help you resolve whether it’s the heat. Also, have you contacted your doctor? Katie

Could be the heat of course or the meds or BP Orc even the ET itself . I always get checked by Gp either my own or out of hours if in doubt .i found out I had ET because of a cerebellar stroke . I had an episode later too which could have been a small TIA. So , if I get light headed - to a certain degree of intensity -I always check it out as those were my symptoms.last time I had to go and get checked out as I thought I was about to faint , it seemed to be down to my BP . ( I'm not a fainter in general) So , knowing yourself when to just get checked out is a good idea I think . You can phone NHS 24 if in doubt and they'll advise maybe if it happens again ? And definitely lots of water . All best

Hi, The first few days I took HU I had light headed for few hours, then less and less after 2 weeks, and I am fine now. Feeling light head is also one of the mild side effects. Some mild one will go away after a while. It has lots of side effects but not everyone get it. It really pays to look up online about Hydrea because some of the mild effects we can prevent ourselves from it if we know about it. I studied the drug fully before I took it in case I get some of the severe one and I'll know it's the drug. I hope all of us won't get the bad one.

Hello yes also on the old Hydroxy. I think to consult with your doctor as this seems to be a change. They may check bloods and perhaps you could phone into haematology to discuss with the specialist team, they always seem to helpful and supportive.
