Chest pain with pv

Hi all

Over the last two weeks I have developed chest pain accompanied by dizzy spells.

I have gone to the hospital twice and had ecg,s and blood tests which all came back clear. The doctor did suggest that it could be stress related but I don’t really see why this has suddenly occurred when I was diagnosed 9 months ago.

Has anyone experienced something like this and what was the outcome?

Thanks

Brian

Yes me ,esp early days of taking H U, now sometimes when I am over tired and stressed...did have a stent fitted,as blood thinned on Meds an artery collapsed......Years ago now ,still checked by my cardio and MPN specialist regularly and now on Rux so bloods every two weeks. Worry not its more than likely stress related.Best Luck.

Hi, Brian. Years ago when I first got diagnosed, I was feeling very dizzy and out of breath. I went to a cardiologist, had a full work-up, and everything was “fine”. I didn’t know at the time that these were symptoms of ET. Another time, I thought I was having indigestion issues. I ignored it and that night I suddenly had the worst pain near my heart that I ever had. I called an ambulance and it turned out I had a blood clot in my spleen. I was hospitalized for 3 days. It turns out the spleen is under your heart. I’m not saying this is what is happening to you, but you need to be your own advocate because a lot of medical professionals don’t have a clue about this disease. Good luck!

I am also PV (JAK2+) and also get chest pain. My chest pain has always been related to GERD (acid reflux). Many trips to the doc when this got really bad - and was always the reflux. Diagnostic tip I learned - if a GI Cocktail (Maalox + Lidocaine) makes it feel better, then it is not heart-related. Something to know is that JAK2 signaling overactivation can increase production of inflammatory cytokines. These cytokines can cause a host of inflammatory conditions, including GERD, insomnia, eczema, etc. Oddly enough, when I did develop a heart condition (paroxysmal atrial tachycardia) - I was totally asymptomatic. Go figure!.

Thanks for the replies. I have noticed that my stomach has been bloated for the last number of weeks so maybe it is related to acid reflux. I’m back with the haemo in two weeks so will discuss it with them.

I’ve got PV and went to a routine check with GP. I reported feeling the same chest pains and dizzy spells you mentioned , as soon as I finished saying it to the doctor, i was sent to A & E with a letter in hand and in fear!

Spent 7 hours in hospital, had all the tests done, nothing wrong found and was discharged . I think I needed to be reassured that I was not dying...
