Weight
Could be enlarged spleen or irritable bowel syndrome which is quite common.
Yes, I have PV and I've gone from around 8.12lb down to currently 7.6lb. I am on three monthly blood tests followed by a telephone consultation from Haemotology Nurse at hospital. After initial 10lb loss I was assured by the nurse that the cause couldn't possibly be due to my PV or Hydroxy.
(I take 500/1000 alternate days). My GP fast tracked me for endoscopy which showed mild gastritis, I was prescribed Lanzaprozole for that, also an MRI scan which showed arthritis in my hip and spine.
I rang the Specialist nurse around five weeks ago about further weight loss of another 10lb and she said they would send for me to check my spleen, I'm still waiting. I feel constantly bloated and have to make myself eat
Hi Sambo! For a long time before my diagnosis, I was hungry, then felt really full after eating even a third of a meal. I ate anyway and didn’t lose weight. (I love good food) Once I got therapy and the platelets went down, the spleen returned to normal. The spleen is often called the blood cell graveyard. If we have too many thrombos, (that are also dying off after 10 days) the spleen is storing more cells. It’s important to keep the spleen working. To do this, I drink a glass: 1/2 water, 1/2 organic apple juice, and some salt when hungry before lunch. It works, but over a longer period of time as all natural therapies do. I had gastritis, years ago. Similar symptoms, but also pain. In that case, It’s not good to take Lanzoprazole or similar meds for too long. Once things are better please look for natural solutions or TCM. They are amazing when dealing with organs and chronic problems. We all need to stay away from as many environmental insults as possible. Our bodies are burdened enough with our MPNs. Hope to have helped. All the Best!
