Hello there, i was interested to read your post. I have had ET for a long time and reduced my working week from 5 days to 3 days then 2, largely due to fatigue. I have recently had my medication increased and struggling , friends advised me to look into pip, I read about needing help getting dressed and with feeding and thought I would not be considered for it. I would be interested to know how you get on. Happy Easter

Hi there, I receive pip payment at the very lowest end of the scale, but I am very grateful for it as I am unable to work because of the fatigue and other symptoms. Macmillan got me help to fill in those forms, not because I'm illiterate but because of the way the questions are asked.( Of course I can dress myself! ) hope that is of help.

Hello Lynda , , When I had PMF my symptoms from the off were debilitating and I had to give up my physical job. I successfully applied for PIPs predecessor Disability Living Allowance on quite flimsy grounds in terms of the in depth assessment that a successful PIP award demands.

It is in 2 parts those being how you cope with a number of daily activities ie washing, dressing, cooking, toilet needs, socialising and how able you are in Moving Around.

It is a points based system. Off top of my head, A score of 8 will give you a lower care award and 12 or more an enhanced one. A score of 10 will give you standard mobility award a score of 12 an enhanced one. You can get one without the other.

My advice is to check out advice sites like McMillan , CAB, and if you think you wish to give it a go benefitsandwork.co.uk which is a subscription service taking you through every element of the form completion.

To anyone considering it a supportive letter from both your GP and Consultant is really vital in my view. And be prepared for the prospect of a face to face assessment by a private company 'health care professional' on behalf of the DWP.

Cheers Chris
