Excellent link Melanie - it needs more publicity in UK. My daughter joined this register 6 months ago after an appeal for a very sick child in a local newspaper. She said it was easy to do and very efficient.

My friends little girl benefitted from this, it’s very similar to the Anthony Nolan bone marrow trust, both do amazing life saving work. Sadly with MPN’s we can no longer donate and I had to remove myself from the register

When I last checked a couple of years back Anthony Nolan has restricted new entrants on their database to 16-30 years old while these guys, and the national database, accept volunteers 18-55. So some who have tried to donate to AN, in response to a friend or family member becoming ill, and fall out of the range, had given up. They should be redirected here. My donor, Sarah, was in her early 40s when she joined AN 9 years ago, (just 18 months before I needed her 😀) so the AN ‘rules’ have changed since. Lucky me!
