Et advice
Not left side specifically, but I’ve suddenly developed an indigestion-type thing and have been wondering if it could be ET or hydroxyurea-related. It will be interesting for you (and me) to hear from others.
Hi Chrissie,
That could be spleen pain. The spleen can "pick up" extra blood cells, and become enlarged. Also clots can form in the spleen.
Take good care.
Hi I have been getting it for last few weeks so pre xmas excess and sometimes a fluttering sensation as well. I was wondering if it is spleen related or stomach/colon as I also have diverticular. My spleen was only slightly enlarged at diagnosis.
I have a GP appt booked in for next week re something else though I will try and discuss this as well failing that I’m back at the haematologist in February.
Hey Chrissie...
Firstly, very best belated Xmas & New Year's wishes, and I agree completely, best you see your GP, and maybe have an ultra sound to just check on your spleen...
However, sometimes... we can also just be suffering from a gastric related issue...
GP is best bet, in my view...

Yes I did beginning of the year, it was spasmodic, on a few occasions the pain would be so painful for a few minutes it would have me doubled over, turned out to be very large kidney stones in my left kidney, had surgery a few months back to remove them, on one scan they also found my spleen was slightly enlarged, may be worth speaking to your GP rather than assuming it’s just ET, i hope your pain isn’t too uncomfortable xxx
Appointment booked Thank you for advice
Hi I have pains in left side below rib and going round to the back. It was suggested in here that it could be spleen, but after insisting on a scan they found it was ok. Had the pain for past 9 months, fed up just want answers. Happy new year to everyone on here, it been on a while x
Sorry grumpyfairy that your still in pain and not found cause x i had one scan few months ago mine too came back clear pain went but now come back x i let you no outcome as got appointment next week x happy New year hope you get sorted soon
Hi I had similar problems and after many GP visits, tests etc it turned out to be gastric issues not my spleen, or kidneys. Had an endoscopy and diagnosed with ulcers from excess acid, which was exacerbated by aspirin. Change of meds to combat the acid has resolved the problem. Happy new year everyone
