I asked about these too and was told that they are a normal part of ageing!!! 😁

Related to ageing, nothing to do with ET.

Thank you all, thought it was another side effect.

You are just on aspirin? Could you explain your situation? I would love to be just on aspirin for ET. Thanks

I’ve been seeing my Hemotologist/Oncologist for about 15 years. My platelets go from about 600-750. I get tested about every 3-4 months. I’m 59 years old - live in the USA. My doctor just says I’m good on aspirin and if I can handle all the side effects then he won’t put me on hydroxia or other meds.

Wow my platelets were that 3 years ago , on HU and aspirin and now around 450. I hate the HU because it causes so many skin cancers. 8 in 3 months. My dermatologist suggests I ask about Angrelide but that's bad too. My hemo is stuck on HU. Maybe a second opinion would help. I'm in US too.

I really like my Dr. I’ve read so many posts on this site that a lot of Doctors are quick to put people on meds and also when they get near 60 years old. My Dr said unless my platelets go way way up or I ask him, there is no reason to go on meds.

I am so happy for you. Guess I have the wrong Hemo.

May I ask why your Hemo thinks you need the Hydroxy? Is it the stroke risk? Or to help with various side effects from the ET. My Hemo basically said, do you want to live with all the side effects of ET or the serious side effects of Hydroxy which include leukemia!!

Her comment is "would you rather have a stroke". Pretty scary
