Hi all. I was experiencing heavy night sweats all year around for years before I was diagnosed with JAK2 ET, but I now understand that ET is behind it. However I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me why. What is it that causes the sweating - and why only at night? Is there anything I can do to reduce it?
Thanks
John
PS. My sympathies go to any in the MPN suffering from this dreadful flu. I'm just at the end of week 2 of it (as is my wife) and we are both going stir crazy.

Good morning John, the above link may help. It would seem those cytokines are to blame.
So many people I know have had the flu this year. You have my sympathy. I’ve only ever had the flu once and it was truly awful. At the moment, I have a heavy cold and troublesome cough. Had to take to bed for a day. I do have the flu vaccination, so I’m wondering if I’m experiencing a milder version of the flu?
Thanks Mary - that is very helpful. I had a phone consultation with my haemo on Tuesday but my head was so befuddled with flu that I forgot to ask him. Apparently the new broad spectrum flu vaccine due out later this year will give much better protection for over 65s. Let's hope so - I don't want this again 🤒
