My husband was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis about a year ago and is on Hydro and Ruxolitinib. He has been doing very well on these drugs .At moment he is in hospital with severe diarrhea and really poorly. I am wondering if the drugs could cause this. Hospital just treating with fluids at moment ...Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Marion, I also have MF and since starting Rux (was also on Panobinistat which I stopped taking few months ago) I suffer from diarrhoea intermittently. Initially when I first started the drugs it was a total nightmare but now I can control the situation to a large degree with Imodeum. I find sweet foods can exasperate the situation also. I think it takes a while for the body to adjust to these strong drugs and for your hubby to find a way to handle it. I'm sure now he's in hospital they'll be able to advise him. The disease is hard enough to cope with without bad tummies!!!! I've had MF for 8 years and just back from a sunshine holiday which went well. I hope they sort hubby out as upset Tim's are very weakening.

Hi Tim thank you for your reply. My hubby (Also Pat) has been doing well with his drugs up to now. Hospital are saying it's gastroenteritis ...they have spoken with hemo team and also waiting fir tests results . He could be home today but very weak and still suffering from bad diarrhoea . We will just have to see how it goes. Good to hear you could do a nice holiday. Since my hubby was diagnosed a year ago (also has had lung csncer)we haven't been able to have a holiday ..he worries about somethg happening while abroad .
