Good afternoon.

Other than "a well balanced diet " can anybody advise on a recommended diet or source of information ?

I have carried out a lot of research and spoken to a number of experts , unfortunately all to no avail .

Thank you

Hey Kevin... :)

Just thought that I would add my two bits for your enquiry.

I am presently early stage MF, and I am on Ruxolitinib 25mg bd.

It was expressed to me that one of the side-effects of being prescribed ruxolitinib is that in can increase levels of unwanted cholesterol, which in turn might also lead to further cardio' complications, (& no one wants that right?).

Hence, in my case, I try to maintain a consistent level of exercise riding my cycle 2-3 times a week for 2 hour sessions (mostly). I also try to stick to my diet of just an evening meal, (low to no carb's), w/ some exceptions before a big ride, (because it helps my energy levels in such circumstances).

However, I use those specially prepared cyclist treats which are high impact, low carbs.

This type of diet might not work for everyone w/ MF, however, it is working for me at the present. I do count my carbs, and even in fruits...

I am now in my 35 week of this dietary regime, and coupled w/ my exercise I have shed almost 20kg in that time.

I try to steer clear of caffeine as it stimulates my appetite I find, usually just black & definitely no sugar of any description... Actually, I prefer green tea w/ lime/lemon mostly.

Best wishes

Steve

Hi Steve

Thanks for your reply .

I have commenced a similar exercise regime , 4 -5 hours spinning classes a week and some weights.

Your comments on diet are very helpful , I look forward to similar results and getting rid of the 5kg care of ruxolitinib ( 25mg ) !!!

Keep up the good work
