Hi I was recently diagnosed with PV jack2

I have had 9 pints of blood removed via venesection, & my levels have dropped, seeing consultant again in 4weeks...I would love to go abroad soon, how do I stand for insurance?

Hi Sue, I too have PV + Jak2 and various other ailments. I go to see my son in New Zealand every two years and I get my travel/medical insurance through Insure& Go , you must give full details of every disorder and meds, they are thorough and very reliable as long as you truthful about everything , no point in not giving full details as if anything happens whilst you are away and not told them about it this will invalidate the whole policy. Speak to a rep , they will take you through it all, it is very easy, I have used them several times, hope this helps. June

Hi I got mine through staysure who many on here had recommended. They advertise on tv quite a bit with 15% off. I think I went on their website and started an application but then because of the PV was told to call. It then had my email and sent me an offer too from memory.

Good luck

Hi Sue, your travel insurers will just want to see your most recent FBC. I think there's a list of insurers on the web page. You could also do a search for a travel thread here on the forum, I expect there's loads of recommendations. Good luck.

I am actually abroad on holiday at the mo! I was diagnosed with PV a couple of months ago so still on regular venesections at the mo.. we had booked the holiday last year so we already had insurance sorted before my diagnosis. It was with Sainsburys who I phoned up after my diagnosis was confirmed & they agreed to still cover the condition but I had to pay a tiny amount more which was fine. Happy holidays! Have a lovely time wherever you go!
