CHANGE IN BLOOD CELL SIZE
Yes in my last report it said, "large platelets and some rare giant platelets."
I was told HU make the platelets larger but that is a good question will be following to see what other say? Mickey
It is normal for the mutated platelet fraction to be large sized platelets in ET also for an increased amount of microparticles. Both of which contribute to the increased risk of clotting.
My red blood cells are too small. Microcytic. Don't carry enough oxygen which contributes to my fatigue.
My red blood cell size has been large for several years. I have PV but was also diagnosed with a B12 deficiency and have quarterly injections. Large red blood cells can be a sign of that. I had to push on this as many GPS will follow the strict guidelines. I was just over the lower limit but I read somewhere anything less than 400 is poor. My heamatologist was happy to ask gp to address this. I think because also you use b12 to make blood cells so bit of a double whammy with PV. Hope this helps.
yes mine are larger
Yes. My MPV was large. My hematologist keeps an eye on this
