Had the constipation at times but this could be caused by any number of things including a poor diet.
Not really had stomach upsets caused by Hydroxy but would advise him to tell his Consultant at the next appointment or contact the G.P. if things do not improve after a few days.
My consultant did mention once that the Hydroxy might not be quite as efficient as usual during a stomach upset.
yes: drink lot and lots of water! Also if he is on aspirin get him the enteric coated sort as the ordinary stuff can cause gastric reflux, and if he has this get yr GP to prescribe omeprezole for a month or so. in a rush!
Drinking lots & lots of water may work for you but not everyone, it only makes me pee more often, day and night and tends to increase the temperature fluctuations to outbreaks of hot flushes, remember we are all individuals and react differently to our conditions.
If it is a tummy bug, the water will flush this through but HDy can give a dicky tummy every now and again.
When I was diagnosed with PVR way back in 1983 after a few months I was put on Hydroxy' and I did have stomach problems and often felt sick if I passed a place serving food. Eventually I found out on the internet that the blood 'refuse' in the body raises the histamine levels, which in turn causes acid problems in the stomach. I printed this out and showed it to my haematologist who told me they knew of the problem. I had visited my GP several times because of acid problem and had tests for ulcers with tubes down and up me, so next time I visited my GP I was prescribed with Omeprazole and never had a problem since. I complained to the haematologist that they should have advised the GP!
So the problem is the lousy blood rather than the tablets, or should I write that is was in my case.
I started Hydroxy in Oct also, had some effects but kept going, last couple of weeks some side effects have become severe and yes severe constipation, nausea even throwing up and back pain. I thought the same thing stomach bug but no one else in my family has it and I have not been out. The longer I'm on it the more fatigue I get.
