Hot/cold flushes are particularly bad at the mom... - MPN Voice
Hot/cold flushes are particularly bad at the moment. How do others cope given not wise to hang out of window during cold nights?
Hi I have the same problem - usually wake up a coupe of minutes before the heat wave arrives, throw off the duvet, ride it out and hope to get back to sleep quickly! So if u find a soution please let me know! It's the lack of sleep that bothers me most.
I agree about the lack of sleep - actually cannot remember a full night for a long time now. Last night it happened at least 5 times and also foot and leg cramp so all in all am expecting to feel like it's bed time in the middle of the afternoon. Thing is, it also happens during social occasions for no reason that I can fathom. I don't drink alcohol so it's not that. Anyway, I find it jolly embarrassing to be dripping away at my age.
I do use the cold gell pads for muscle injuries and wrap one round my neck which helps a bit it's just that it is so bad at the moment I wondered if anyone had some clever solution. Thank you for replying Jane. By the way isn't it interesting how we wake just before the onslaught! Best wishes
Linda ,the trouble is once we break our sleep patern it's hard to get it back,I take one nite all half hour before bedtime ,it works,my routine is back.cut down salt .drink lots of water pure juice ,,try celery a great diaretic ,gently cook it .lots of greens ,diet helps the flushing.toxins out of the system ...xx
Hi Linds, I have every sympathy. Also got a cold/stomach bug so sweats have escalated to being ridiculous a the moment - I feel like I am going for a swim in my bed!!! I havent found any cures but make sure I drink plenty water the next day. Every sympathy Aime x
Aime, I have had a shocking head cold and upset tum and wondered if this escalated the sweats. As I said previously, I do drink masses too. It is a game all this, I went to have a pedicure today and arrived looking like I had been for a swim before hand, hair flat to my head - very glam. Oh well hope you get better soon. How is the arm? x
Hi Linds, poor you. I have every sympathy with these sweats and like you a lot worse just now. It drains your energy as well. Arm improving (I think), plaster still on, it comes off on Thursday, thank god, cos its very sweaty too!!! Yuk!! Hope you get better soon too. Aime x
Could not sympathise more and although so sorry for you, find it comforting to know others in same boat. Have had them for 4 years now and worst case, wake up 17 times a night, but best nights are only 5 or 6 times. OK if can get back to sleep, otherwise a nightmare. Wine definitely makes them worse (except for organic red wine) but have them whatever I try. Would love to know reason. One haematologist said it is because the bone marrow is throwing out random malignant cells and it is the body's way of coping, but other professionals tell me they just don't know the cause or how to stop them. Hope someone somewhere can come up with an answer. Tinkerbell
Tinkerbell, I know exactly what you mean about taking comfort from reading others have the same problem. In the dark moments of night when you are turning from hot to ice it can get quite scary. Actually, I have had these sweats for so many years and put it down to the change, just could not understand why they never eased. I think honestly that this PRV has been around much longer than suspected. Do you have a fan in your bedroom, we have a plantation fan going slowly all night - my husband has been known to wear a wooly hat! Keep smiling x
Because go from terrific heat to icy cold, don't find fan helps...I now refer to it all as 'my secret night life' and sometimes wander about and drink water but the good nights are when, however many times it happens, each time actually fall asleep between sweats...would still like to know what exactly is the cause, wouldn't you! Very best wishes, Tinkerbell
