Has anyone had any experience with this, been taking it for a couple of months now and seems to be working (too soon to tell) but I feel kind of dopey and not sure if it's down to the meds.
Gabapentin (Neurontin): Has anyone had... - National Migraine...
Gabapentin (Neurontin)
Hi. I have tried every possible treatment, and the neurologist said there were two more I could try: Gabapentin and Pregabalin. The GP explained to me that they were the same but Pregabalin is a more recent improved version of Gabapentin. So I have now been on Pregabalin for a few weeks, still not on the maximum dose, which is the only dose effective for migraines but there is already an improvement and the side effects are not bad at all (I am very sensitive to medication). I only get dizzy when I up the dose. May be you could ask your whether you could switch to Pregabalin?
I was on gabapentin for 3 years (had previously briefly tried pregabalin) for chronic pain in my face - have subsequently realised a lot of that was migraine headache. Unfortunately for me it didn't work although I was told by the consultant who diagnosed migraine that it could potentially be very helpful for the migraines. It's used a lot for people who suffer from chronic pain.
It can make you feel dopey - I felt like it a lot, but sometimes feel like it anyway, when I have a migraine. I had problems finding the right words and also got a dry mouth. (I probably bought up the entire supply of sugar-free mints in the East Midlands when i was on it). However, I managed to sort-of function and keep working.
But if it's working for you that's great!
