My partner has been suffering from these headaces for more than 20 years. He uses high doses of Verapamil, oxygen and when these are not effective Sumatriptan as a injection (which he does not like giving to himself). Over the past few days he has had 3-4 headaces per day, which is unusual. He tries to cope using the oxygen but has ended up trying to give the injection to himself. If I were to give him the injection as soon as he gets the first headache-would that prevent the following headaches? (The problem is he works night shifts and I work full-time during the day). The past few mornings I have been around for the first of the headaches. He is seeing his GP today but few doctors understand his condition. Many thanks. Betti.

Well dear i got this so called cluster headache while i was in USA for my Ph.D. studies and had a vehicle accident in 1995. the cycle of this CH come during the months of May to July and even august. Dear nothing works really. The Ibuprofen used to work and than it quit working. Pentazocine injection worked for three years and quit working. As soon as the symptoms appear, DISPRINE works before the pain starts but after the starts, it doesn't work.
Best of luck with your partner really as the one who suffers know what he is going through and the listener can not really imagine the pain that the person is crossing through
