I have been on a betablocker now for about 2 months and it makes me eat more, get breathless and feel tired
I am coming off it slowly to go on something else
Is this common?

i'm not sure, but w/the exception of topamax most of the meds that i've heard of that are used to prevent migraines do cause you to gain weight
this is one of my support groups, if you would like to join
"Beta blockers work by capping the heart rate which prevents you from getting stressed and raising your blood pressure, which is the prime use of the drug. The use of them for migraine is an 'incidental side effect' "
That is what my GP told me but that is also why they prevent you from exercising effectively and cause you to put on weight. The symptoms you describe are perfectly normal side effects of Beta Blockers - so don't be alarmed. (Although I never felt more hungry when I was on them....) Topirimate is alleged to decrease the appetite and help you lose weight but unfortunately has not had that effect on me and has not helped me lose the 2 stone one of the other drugs caused me to put on....
Good luck with finding something that works for you.
