does anyone else have high BP and migraines.also been wakening up sweating , dripping wet. GP. Thinks the migraines might be caused by high BP. he has doubled my meds( Ibersartan). It's a constant worry for me,and I am my mum's carer,. She is a100 next month and ,still lives on her own. So I need to be ok. I am permanently worried. Don't know what to do. .

hello there, I don't have high blood pressure but recently a fast heartrate caused me to have a migraine every week for 6 weeks.I take amitriptyline every night as a preventative but it stopped working.I have graves disease and it can cause everything in your body to speed up including heart rate.I didn't connect the two and suffered longer than I needed to. The GP put me on proprananol as well(a beta blocker) to slow my heart rate and it worked.I am still on it even though I had my thyroid out in June this year.I totally understand how worried you are.I have had migraines since I was 14 and cannot count the number of social occasions, holidays etc that have been spoilt by a migraine.I also understand you wanting to be well to look after your mum.My son was seriously ill 8 years ago and I HAD to be well to look after him.Unfortunately it was a vicious circle of stressing about being Ok which caused more migraines. That is when I initially started the amitriptyline.Hopefully the increased medication will start to work for you and that will reduce your stress and therefore your migraines.Hope this helps and best wishes for a quick solution for you.
Thanks,. There are a lot of meds I cannot take because of glaucoma. But will have to struggle on. I think it helps sometimes to get things off your chest, and have a good moan.
Sympathies...sounds like you are having a rotten time and too much worry. Candesartan is better than Ibersartan for migraine prevention but maybe doc is avoiding giving you that because of your kidneys? Have you had thorough blood tests since all this sweating? ...maybe it's your thyroid or something else causing that? Or it can be a post covid symptom? If GP can't help control your migraines make sure they refer you to a headache clinic. You need all the support you can get. All best wishes...
I was put on Candesartan for migraines but it made blood pressure too low so I kept getting dizzy and they had to take me off it. So maybe it might do the same for you but in a helpful way?
The other thing that might work would be CBD oil, cannabis has been shown to reduce pressure in the eye caused by glaucoma, that and Prozac I think?
Amitriptyline can raise or lower blood pressure, although I suspect it's why my heart rate is so high, that and my long term anxiety.
I don't suppose you should do any of the above without your doctor on board though!
Hi i have high bp like you and i take pizotifen which keep my miigraines at bay. I know were all different and docs need to try different meds with you. Good luck hope you find the one you need. You do need to be well to look after your mum. Karen xxx
