Trickle : Hi, can anyone tell me if... - National Migraine...
Trickle
What do you mean by the sensation being ‘in’ your head where does the sensation feel like it’s based exactly ? Is it while u have pain or before a migraine or after? Is it often?
I get trickly/crawly sensations on my scalp from time to time usually in the days after a migraine. Sometimes it’s super intense shivers and crawls all over the scalp and into the neck and sometimes just the side I get a migraine on it’s crazy and I actually love the sensation
Yes I get this on the side of my head above right ear … like boiling water when migraining or sometimes after migraine. It’s not painful just weird. I’ve had scans amd nothing sinister there
Yes, it happens quite often, sometimes leading to sharper digging pains and sometimes not. I don't find it worrying. I have vestibular migraine.
I had chronic migraine daily headache never left in 17 months. Nothings worked up to now- a few months into this i got pins n needles sensation all over my face its ther almost permanently , tingling id describe it as. Not painful. But the headache is between a 5-8 out of ten most days. I believe its an upset trigeminal nerve. I got a cefaly machine to stimulate the nerve between eyes . It got rid of nausea for me but not the tingling. Ajovy botox cefaly and greater occipital nerve block have all failed to help me my next hope is for progesterone if I fit the criteria. Im 59. You dont give your age. Hope u get sorted.
Hi Francesca
Thanks for the reply, I’m 48 , I’m sorry you suffer so bad ,I’m just panicking as I keep thinking I have a brain tumour, I get pain at side of my head always my left side above my ear then I get the trickling feeling with kightheadness and a bit dizzy . Your headaches are quite strong by the sounds of it ?
Have u had ct scans and mri to rule out ? Obviously it was my first worry. But every test ive had is normal. I feel like immaking it up. To have such pain and no proof. Could your trickling be described at pins n needles or tingling? Are u menopausal? Im waiting to see a gynaecologist/and or professor Anne McGregor (google her) a lady on this site told me my story was similar to hers and shes been pain free for 4-5 months now. And progesterone sorted it, but still has noise and light aversion, as I do. I really hope you get sorted . Migraines are a terrible affliction, I cope because I think there is always someone worse off. Xx
Hi,Yes, I have had that sensation. It felt like water was dripping inside my head. It did not last very long but it was alarming. All my scans were ok though. Mention this at your appointment x
