Hello. I wonder anyone here may have had similar symptoms connected to migraine that my daughter is currently experiencing. She’s 13.
She has had migraines before but only every 4-5 months and a few days asleep in bed and ibuprofen seems to do the trick. Her early signs gave always been different - sometimes a tingly arm, sometimes coloured lights in her eyes. Sometimes she’s sick.
Anyway, on Monday she came home from school saying she felt dizzy and had a ‘heavy chest’ with difficulty breathing. She had a slight headache but nothing bad. The main symptom she kept saying was she was having sudden flashes of ‘de ja vu’ that left her feeling panicky and nauseous. Then it passed. As the evening wore on though it seems a bit worse.
Yesterday I took her to the GP. She took us seriously but said it didn’t sound like a migraine. She was unsure what it was. Maybe a weird virus? She said she would investigate further if it continued.
Last night daughter went to bed at 9pm and has only just woken at midday. I was hoping she’d feel better but she says she feels the same - dizzy and whoozy but the headache has moved to her temples.
Do you this is a kind of migraine? I’ve read about aura migraine but everything I’ve read it lasts a couple of hours. This is just over 2 days now.

Sorry, i should say. I was in bed, just slept for days at that age. If no exam stress, have a look at her diet. There are also supplaments that help ...like magnesium and B2.
Hi, is there any autoimmune disease in your family with relatives past and present? Including Thyroid problems, or heart attacks or strokes at an early age or miscarriages with female relatives? If any of this sounds familiar come back to me. MaryF
as MaryF says could be an auto-immune related problem - which could also cause migraine like headaches. B12 deficiency is another possiblity (could be auto-immune or could be diet if your daughter is vegetarian/vegan and eats very little meat/fish/dairy/egg.
Deja vu can go with seizures and patients with Hughes Syndrome/APS do report such symptoms, same as vertigo etc, migraines caused by this usually only respond to either Aspirin or anticoagulants and of course some like my own daughter for instance also have B12 deficiency. MaryF
Sounds like panic attacks to me. Mine started at 14 and lasted until my mid 20's. Back then my doctor referred to it as "trouble with your nerves." In my early 20's, I was taking two or three meds to keep me functioning and I finally outgrew it. I can't even tell you how many symptoms I experienced. It was sometimes debilitating. Good luck.
Hi Worrymouse, Here's my bottom line, which I learned the hard way. If it's been 'days' since you saw GP & no tests have been scheduled & no follow-up via call or visit has been done and your daughter's symptoms have either not improved or have worsened, it's time to push & push hard on the GP & even the ER (as much as I hate saying ER). When it comes to our loved ones we can't just wait for any 'medical professional' to think outside the box. Action must be taken, it's been too many days of this torture for the GP to just wait around. There are so many things it could be, both life threatening & not, but your kiddo is obviously in distress & experiencing something awful. It's time to take the matter into your hands & get some answers & relief for her. I hope it's nothing serious & that this is helpful. God bless!
