I’m 33 years old and have been getting migraines since I was around 7 or 8 years old. They were so debilitating I would end up in the ER when I got them. I get them so frequently now that is taking a toll on me. Does anyone take a daily medication to help prevent their migraines?

Yes lots of us on here I should think! I'm 40 now have been on daily migraine meds for at least 25 years. Various preventative and acute treatments and now both those and Botox.
I’m 50 & have tried many meds over the years. Recently my migraines have become daily with frequent aura. I am now trying Topamax and am building up the dose. Too early to tell if it will help but I really hope so.
Hi sssstephanie,
I was on Topamax and Propranolol, taken both morning and night, and that helped tremendously for almost 5 years. I had few side effects, but not all people react the same way. Do you have a migraine clinic in your area? Are you able to see a neurologist who specializes in migraines?
I saw my GP today who has given me a prescription for 80mg of Propranolol. She told me to come back at the end of the month of treatment to let her now if there has been an improvement. Here's hoping.
