Hemiplegic migraine made worse by Potassium supplements prescribed by Endo.

Recently prescribed Potassium supplement for 2 weeks by Endo that has seen my Hemiplegic migraine rear its' ugly head nearly every day during the past week! I take Levothyroxine for Hypothyroidism which was diagnosed over 5 years ago. My Levo was dropped from 125 to 100 just 2 weeks ago at the same time the Potassium introduced twice a day as was low. After a week I started suffering the most horrid migraines and have rarely had a day without one or Two. Have finished the Potassium now and had blood test which will take a week for result, but not sure if the sudden onset of awful migraines is due to drop in Levo or introduction of Potassium supplements. Feel dreadful........... anyone experienced similar reaction to Potassium please?

Hi I was recently admitted to A and E with a suspected sub arachnoid haemorrhage . Although I have still to see a neurologist there was a suggestion that I could have had a hemiplegic migraine so I was interested to see your post . Can anyone offer information on these headaches? Mine woke me with severe pain at the front of my head, vomiting (for hours) and a LHS weakness. Thanks

Hello Kitkat,

Apologies for delay in replying but only noticed your reply at the weekend. I would suggest you follow this link and read the information about Hemiplegic Migraine given out by The Migraine Trust.

migrainetrust.org/about-mig...

Also if you put into a search on here you will find others suffering with the same problem and knowing others understand what you are going through can be of great help. I do hope you are feeling better after your recent frightening experience. From experience I know how scary it can be but am sure you will find the advice on help of others so much help. Please feel free to get in touch if you think I can help in any way at all.
