How many people just woke up one day with a migraine/tension headache and despite all the medical tests etc etc they just could not figure out why you have headaches and are still battling with their symptoms

What do you do to make it through the day and what remidies work for you?

Yes 1.5 years and still struggling, my only savours has been Botox for migraine every 3 months & increasing my circulation with working out and a circulation machine.

I think I'm going to have to try Botox but I hear its awful at first and gives people terrible headaches. I'd be grateful for any advice. Currently take 80mg propanalol and 20mg amatryptaline. Also considering topomax as I'm not getting much relief.

Hi Rach,

I know exactly how you feel, it's horrible to wake up and then feel like the pain is never going to go away. I've been prescribed topamax but found it altered my personality and made to do things that I would normally not do.. Also since beginning a degree in medical imaging I have learnt about the affects on the brain whilst using anti seizure medication & personally wouldn't advise it unless necessary. Botox has been my savour, I went from 4-5 migraines per week to none. Then towards the end of my three months when the Botox is wearing off id get a migraine once a week. Sometimes I'll get a migraine post Botox appointment but it's just the same as my every day migraines, nothing worst & I know that within a week I'll be back to no migraines which makes them much easier to tolerate. Where do you live? Are you currently seeing a neurologist? I've been to an osteopath, and acupuncturist, a Nautropath, a iridologist & have found little things but nothing big enough to say yeah that's the root cause. I'm waiting to see a cardiologist as present as there is a condition of the heart where a small hole can aggravate and bring on aggressive migraines. It's all about ticking things off the list as I feel Botox is a bandaid, it's fantastic and helps me continue everyday life but is still masking the cause. Hope this information helps x

I didn't suffer with terrible migraines at first, but I didn't have a migraine when I was injected; however I did suffer with neck pain and sickness this lasted just over 2 weeks but was anywhere near as bad a migraine ... I would have it hundred times over the migraines I was having

Yes mine is 4.5 yrs no idea why.. I've had Botox it did work and then stopped working I've had every test going every medication going.. I'm now on Amtriplyine again and have an electronic pulse machine that I used its from eNeurs and it's a STMS machine. I've recently had a daith piercing I'm a 24:7 sufferer with symptoms such as lose of feeling on right side biting cheeks when eating, nausea, bright lights affect me.. I have given up work this year as I wasn't able to cope/live etc with migraines and working! I have a very supportive family! I know am under a neurologist consultant in London. I've sort off accepted that this is me and I have to make the most of it. It could be a lot worse!!!

I have no idea why I get my sometimes. Bizarrely the consultant telling me that sometimes I will have a headache for no reason other than I am predisposed of getting them made it slightly easier in the sense that I know I cannot always control so therefore its nothing I am doing wrong.

I have suffered for 23 years and Botox is the only thing that has finally work!

I had my first NHS treatment 2 /1/2 weeks ago - 33 injections

Previous to that I had private 9 injections just in my temples and forehead.

It's amazing ..... I've just enjoyed my first weekend migraine free in years... I had a headache (which went away with normal painkillers) but no migraine ....YAY!

11 years now, possibly more, I've lost count. Mine started as toothache & took about 6 years to diagnose as migraine & chronic facial pain relating to my posture. Then a few more years to get the treatment right with regular tweaking.

I take migraine prevention pills daily & have botox for the pain. Physiotherapy has helped

I've had a long spell of doing really well but things are painful today & a bit "migrainey". I know this is down to too much screen time, bad posture from a craft project over the weekend & staying up too late. It's hard work being perfect all the time!

I woke up September 11th 2013 having never had a migraine before and rarely a headache in my life, it has been daily and after the initial 7 months of vomiting daily it hasn't improved at all. All i can say is make a list or plan on how to medically tackle it, go through it, point by point. Try and take as much stress out of your life and minimise everything. Daily wise, use your preventatives wisely, plan your days and weeks as best you can. My migraine most of the time won't affect me for 2 hours in the morning so i try to get work done during that time. Sorry you have to live through this vile curse!
