Rebound headaches
I've never had exceedrin, but I just found out about rebound, or medication overuse headaches.
I toughed out a migraine for 4 days with no meds. It was hell but a week later I'm starting to feel human again. Do you have a specialist to discuss this with?
Take care, Catherine.
Excedrin never touched my migraines so can't say for that one; however I have definitely dealt with rebound headaches or as Catmag said medication overuse headaches as they are called now. My neurologist and I talked about it for me and I also have suffered through several days long migraines to avoid the daily headache that comes from always taking something. It sucks but I only take something if I have to force myself to function and cannot get out of bed. Talk with a specialist about your options for sure. Are you on a preventative medication?
Yes I was told by my neurologist to come off all painkillers was told it would get much worse before it got bett and my God it did. I know take as little as possible even cutting a sumatriptan in half to see if I can get away with that. Sometimes it works..
Thank you everyone for responding n your suggestions. I have tried cutting back and going off all medications. After two weeks with no medication I ended up at the hospital. They were unable to give me relief and sent me home after two days. It took me a week of going back on all my medication to get control of my pain. Yes, I see a Neurologist and he doesn't seem to have any ideas and doesn't care much. I am very scared. It is a nightmare! Now my stomach is distorted by all the medication. I have constantly daily pain in my abdomen, like it is on fire.
I would try to find a new neurologist if you can. It's important to find someone invested in your health.
As someone in the US who suffers HARDLY AT ALL anymore (because I stopped Prednisone), I must agree with LK1123: Get a better neurologist. Your current neurologist's problem may be related to better instincts, actually. If the doc specializes in neurophysiology or seizure disorders, they totally knock themselves out learning and doing everything they can for patients with often deadly indications to their illness; consequently, they have little time left to search out obscure new reference material - say, meds not on their institutional formulary yet? - tho' that's what's needed. Yours is a severe case and it would be better (still far from ideal) to get a Headache specialist. Between that and suffering silently, the choice would be easy for me. Best of luck.
I defo got them when I took too many sumutripan and then felt like I had a week long headache. Made me feel so down that I booked myself to the acupuncturist straight away. It was a defo a thing for me and absolutely horrible.
