I have just joined this site but have suffered with migraines for as long as I can remember. I am now 30 and a nurse but really struggle at times. I've tried many different preventers but have yet to find one which helps. Thankfully I have seen many new ones on this site I have yet to try so thank you for sharing.

Long time migraine suffer myself. Started in my teens. I find that when my pillow becomes flat my migraines increase. I have just ordered a side sleeper pillow to see if that helps. When I have an attack I take myself off to bed, as soon as possible, with two ice packs. One for behind my neck and the other across my eyes. I find it helps to lessen the pain. Good luck.

Now isn't that strange. I have found mine are easier without a pillow

I like you have tried just about everything .. Last night I had a daith piercing ( google it) unless it is my imagination or wishful thinking I swear I felt a release of pressure as soon as it was done. I won't know for a few days whether it has worked or not as it's very unusual for me to go more than that without a migraine, usually 4/5 days a week with. So here's hoping yet again. I will let you know how I get on

I have been considering this myself. I've read quite a lot about it. Where did you get it done?

I've read a lot of success stories.

Hi babs1234

I am getting fed up with my family telling me to get this piercing.......mainly because I think it looks like it will hurt a lot!

Did yours hurt much? And I can get migraine on either side of my head so would I have to get both ears done?

I'm 45 and have been suffering chronic/cluster migraines since I was in primary school. I have been under the Neurologist at the hospital seeing consultants and professors and having numerous brain scans. I have been on several drugs for many years as well as contraceptive pills changing my diet etc, now currently on eplipisy medication but still having major migraines. Started having a puncture privately and it worked really well, then I found out about the Daith piercing so the very next day I had it done. The piercer was fantastic and Ivan honestly say it didn't hurt. It's been a week so early days but I haven't had a migraine or headache yet 😀

No it didn't hurt much at all but they say to get one side done first as it can be uncomfortable not being able to sleep on one side then if necessary get the other done

Thanks - I may give it a try on my worst side!

Certainly not as painful as a migrain. And so far so good. I know it's only 3 rd day since having it done but usually get one every other day so still not holding my breath.... Will let you know how I go

Wow! I'm really interested in this, well done for giving it a try. Did it really hurt?!

Nothing compared to a bad head I'm sure but please let us know how you get on. I too have migraines 4/5 times a week.

Sending love and luck!

Xx

As you say nowhere near as painful as a migrain. I'm 62 and just had this done 3 days and no migraine... It's very discreet so don't look like an aging hippy. Lol . To be honest they could pierce my brain and stick a ring in it if I thought it would help my migraines. Seriously get it done. Apparently it doesn't work fore everyone but definitely works for some and at the end of the day if it doesn't £30 to lose but plenty to gain x

Thank you for all your comments and support. It's so nice to hear from people that understand. Most of the time I just get the feeling from people like I'm being a drama queen or exaggerating how painful it is. I have migraines so often I just feel like I'm always letting people down. It's so nice to have support and understanding.

Thank you

Well I had it done Friday and I thought it was pretty painful but was over quick so nothing compared to suffering for days with a migraine.

So far it hasn't worked but things have been pretty stressful so there's no hope. Hopefully when stress calms down I can properly assess how well it works. It only cost £20 so not a fortune to lose if it doesn't help.
