Preventing weight loss associated with topamax...

Most people consider weight loss a good side effect of this medication however im naturally thin, 5ft and 97lbs when I started this med about a week and a half ago. Im down to 91 pounds and hoping to curve the weight loss before it goes any further. This drug ia a god send as I had been getting around 4-6 migraines a week before I started thia drug and haven't had a single head ache in 9 days! The only noticeable side effects that I cant control are the weight loss and tingling fingers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I lost one and a half stone and went down to seven stone. I was very thin, hair coming out, nails breaking, miserable.

I think you need to be really careful with it. It's said to make you lose ten percent of your body weight and as you are so light anyway, I would worry for your health.

Also, could I advise you to watch for depression and mood swings; I found it a very difficult med to take in terms of this and others noticed a huge change in personality.

Consult your doc about your weight change and do watch for other symptoms. I'm really pleased about your headaches though!
