I tried many years ago but didn't find it helpful in reducing my migraines. Maybe the therapist wasn't the right one!

I tried it as well. It doesn't reduce the migraines but helps you cope with the pain. Didn't find it helpful either.

I tried Hypnotherapy years ago going through 2 sessions of several 'treatments' and no help at all. But its down to the individual as I found it very difficult to relax with the therapist as I was more worried about how much it was costing me! I also found her voice irritating and she was so quick as I reckon she was more after the money than helping me to relax. That was the 1st therapist I tried. The second one was via someone I knew at college (I trained to be a counsellor and was for several year until my health issues got worse and I had to retire) and to be honest I couldn't be hypnotised so they said even though there was a professional tutor present who herself tried to hypnotise me. Its worth a go but find the right therapist. At the moment I've just my first 31 injections of Botox at my local GP's health centre by the Headache consultant to see if that works. Unfortunately I also have Fibromyalgia and Facet joint syndrome and damage to my spine from severe osteoporosis due to an very early menopause (32 years of age) and malabsorbtion from Coeliac disease that my former GP's didn't recognise. He thought I had Psoriasis when in fact I had Dermatitis Herpetiformis and even thought I was 'self harming'! Thankfully the doctor who took over from him recognised that my horrible rashes on arms, legs, knees and private parts were not psoriasis and sent me to the local dermatology clinic who immediately recognised what ailed me. Now on a Gluten diet I'm no longer Twiggy but fatty! LOL! I was told I'd had coeliac all my life but no one picked up on it and in my 40's it just got so bad along with the most horrendous migraines that put me in bed for 6 days out of every fortnight. I couldn't eat anything and all I could manage was sips of flat lemonade and then I'd start vomiting! I went on like this for years. I'm now 65 but due to all the medical oversight of what was really wrong its left me with constant pain and headaches some which are migraine but with Sumatriptan I can handle these but they average about 3 a week but some can be triggered by my other problems. So they are trying me with botox but I've just read that the cut off age is 65 for Botox which is rather disappointing as I can't afford to pay privately. But its worth trying different treatments for Migraine including hypnotherapy and it may work for you. Good luck as I know migraine can be a bitch and life altering.
