Hi all, any advice welcome...

I have been through the triptans and tricyclics prescriptions (horrendous side effects). Now on SSRI (sertraline) and enjoyed early success with headaches and migraines dissipating.

I have previously had gastro/reflux issues, but through tablets (lanzoprazole), lifestyle and diet I have all but cleared up. However, 2 months into sertraline my reflux and intestinal flare ups have started again.

Against advice, I have gone cold turkey and stopped taking sertraline as I cannot bear the prospect of gastro issues resurfacing. Obviously, I am now having the withdrawal issues of coming off sertaline.

Classic catch 22... do I want migraines or stomach issues!

Are there any SSRI medications (NHS list 8 different tablets - nhs.uk/conditions/ssri-anti... or other migraine medications that do not cause gastro issues? Obviously, I appreciate this is my case and we are all different - I will be seeking advice from my GP in due course.

As I say, any advice welcome.

Many Thanks

Hmm, tough call, I have had numerous problems with my stomach but I still take omeprazole, I was having bouts of severe headaches migraines, which stopped briefly after starting on b12 injections, however the headaches are back in full avengence so I was prescribed rizatriptan which helped but only if I took it quickly enough, otherwise it was the full blown skull busting headache, after numerous trips to the doctors I was put onto propananol as a preventative to see if this would stop the headaches, yep it helped and they ceased, however they are now coming back everyday, the propananol has just been increased and I'm still suffering, my headaches always normally start whilst I'm asleep, and it's affecting how I function, I never thought how a headache /migraine could affect my mindset, I honestly feel like throwing in the towel, and trying to get this over to the doctors is another story, nightmare stuff, my sympathy is well and truly with you, take care I hope that you get some relief very soon.

Insist on being referred to a headache specialist. Your symptoms sound very like mine, I am now down for Gammacore. They keep trying till they find what’s best for you
