Migraine Auras - scintillating scotoma?

I had a spate of these a few years ago, having never had them before (I have migraines without auras as a rule and when I have auras the pain isn't as bad if it's there at all). Then they disappeared. Now they are back again and I can get them every day or several times a week or, like this morning, twice. In fact I was dreaming I had an aura and turns out when I woke it was an actual one. Then slept a bit and then woke with one again though not so bad :(

I am worried after looking on Dr Google, in case I am at greater risk of a stroke. I am in my 50s (auras started after 50) and am not quite post-menopausal (but almost).

I am easily alarmed and worry about my health so be gentle with me - thanks

I'm 50 odd and currently had 22 of these episodes in past 23 days. Normally only have around 6-8 a year. Had 2 already today and it's yet early!

You sent your message a year ago. What eventually happened?

Hi Robin_Hood

Sorry only just seen your reply. My auras seem to have settled down again and haven't had one for months. Hope yours have settled down too.

Yes indeed they have. I had 12 episodes in December (no idea why I said 22). However, my last one was on the 26th December. That's what happens sometimes. I have none for months, then get a load all at once. BTW I'm *positive* it was my anxiety about them that accounted for why I had so many in December.

Glad to hear that they've gone for now! interesting that you had them in December - I remember one year I had a lot in December and felt the Xmas lights were triggering them but that may have been coincidence. I have had them at other times of year
